With more than a hundred years of history, Bissell has entrenched itself as a household name for vacuum cleaner. Founded in 1880s, the birth of Bissell carpet cleaner was owed to the ingenuity of an American entrepreneur named Melville Bissell.

The first Bissell carpet cleaner was made and designed by Melville himself in an attempt to offload the burgeoning cleaning duty that his wife had to endure. Fast forward to today, one of the most sought after vacuum cleaner has to be the Bissell ProHeat 2x.

If you found yourself confused in trying to distinguish out one Bissell ProHeat 2x from the others, I know how frustrating it must have been. This article is a simple guide that is going to help you clear up your confusion and make your decision easier.

A Comprehensive Guide to Bissell ProHeat 2X Models

If you try to search for Bissell ProHeat 2x, you are likely to end up with long list of models. That is where your confusion will start. I guess they could have done better in maintaining a simpler names for their range of cleaning equipments, particularly the Bissell ProHeat 2x. This is all the more crucial when you think about the market segment who will be buying their products. Working professionals. Busy parents. Housewives. But whatever it is, let’s not divulge too much into it as I think Bissell are still churning out great products.

Based on the research that I’ve done, I can see that in total, there are only five different Bissell ProHeat 2x models to choose from. What is important when considering a Bissell ProHeat 2x cleaner is the serial number of the product. What I’ve discovered is that the same serial number could be repackaged and named differently. I’ll give you an example in a while. The 5 different ProHeat 2x models currently on sale are listed in the table below.

8930U: ProHeat 2X® Multi-Surface Pet

The first out of the five models is the 8930U model. Initially, this product was labeled as ProHeat 2X Tough Stain Pet cleaner and later as ProHeat 2X® Multi-Surface Pet. But at the core of the product, everything remains the same. Maybe they found the initial name with ‘Tough Stain’ term on it does not really express the capability of the product. It may also be because ‘Multi-Surface’ sounds sexier.

Whatever the case may be, keep in mind that both the ProHeat 2x Multi-Surface Pet and ProHeat 2x Tough Stain Pet cleaners are essentially two of the same thing. If you are not totally convinced, confirm with the sales guy or lady at the department stores selling this product and you’ll get the answer.

The next of the five models is the 9500P series. Initially, this model is labeled simply as ProHeat 2X CleanShot Deep Cleaning System. Later on, it was relabeled as the ProHeat 2x CleanShot Professional Deep Cleaner. As you can see from here, the word ‘Professional’ has been added to enhance the sexiness of the product. While I see no new capability that worth the status upgrade from non-professional to professional level, the Bissell 9500P ProHeat 2x CleanShot Professional Deep Cleaner is a feature-packed cleaner to begin with.

THe third model is the 9200 series. It is labeled simply as ProHeat 2x Deep cleaning System and it is considered as the entry-level model of the ProHeat 2x family. However, you can find 9200P model selling in the market and it is being labeled as ProHeat 2X Pet Deep Cleaner. Based on my own study and comparison, I see the 9200 and 9200 to be of the exact same model but packaged differently. The 9200P Pet Deep Cleaner version includes some tools required specifically for pet stain cleaning such as the removal solution. Other than that, don’t be confused by the product naming.

Of all the models, this is probably the easiest to distinguish and as far as I can see, there is no other variants or repackaged version of the 66Q4 in the market.

The last of the five model is the 9400 series. There are at least two different bundled packages for this series. First, there is the 9400M version which is labeled as ProHeat 2x Select Deep Cleaning System. Then, there is the 94003 version which is labeled as ProHeat Select Pet Deep Cleaning. The difference between the two is again, only on the tools included as part of the bundle. The former is not sold specifically to pet owners while the later is.

That’s it! I hope this simple guide will help you to crack the Bissell ProHeat serial model puzzle. In case you have not made up your mind and still searching for alternatives, you may want to take a look at our best vacuum cleaners selection.
